Your stay in the heart of Florence

Canto degli Aranci is at the heart of Santa Croce, one of the historic quarters of Florence. The area sprang up in the 13th century on what was then the ‘Isola dell’Arno’, formed by two branches of the river, and is now Piazza Santa Croce. The Franciscan Basilica stands on the square and here, for more than five centuries, the final of the Calcio storico fiorentino tournament has been played, with the four quarters of the city competing against each other. All around the Basilica is a web of streets, with their original names describing the history of the neighbourhood and its inhabitants. The area is dotted with aristocratic palazzos, tiny museums containing incredible masterpieces, and artisan workshops that continue the skilled crafts traditions of the past.
