Canto degli Aranci is situated where Via Verdi meets Via Ghibellina, in the historic quarter of Santa Croce. A palazzo with an orange grove once stood here in the Middle Ages, and it was on this corner (traditionally known as a canto) that poets would gather in summer and challenge each other to improvise verses. Even today, Canto degli Aranci is a crossroads of art and culture, a place where the medieval roots of Florence meet contemporary society, with its blend of nightlife, bars and restaurants, entertainment and events
